THE SUMMER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

The Faculty of Architecture has a long standing tradition of organizing summer schools and courses in architecture. The first summer school was held in Ohrid at the beginning of the seventies. In the last seven years the summer school has taken place at the Monastery of St. Joachim Osogovski.

Previous sessions of the summer school have centred their interest on various issues of architecture and urbanism - Session 6: Architecture and nature, headed by Prof. Tihomir Stojkov; Session 5: Non-handicapped House, headed by Prof.Zorica Blazevska; Session 4: "Maalo", headed by Prof.Dimitrije Golubovski; Session 3: Street, headed by Prof.Martin Guleski; Session 2: House, headed by Prof.Zivko Popovski; Session 1: The master-builder Andrej Damjanov and the XIXth century Revival in Macedonia headed by Prof.Jasmina Hadzieva and Prof.Aleksandar Nikolski.
Participants and lecturers have come from many parts of the world: Great Britain, Brazil, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey... and of course Macedonia.
The list of lecturers includes architects, sociologists, philosophers, art historians, writers... We will mention only a few from the long list of lecturers that have taken part in the previous sessions: Prof. Anton Schweighoffer of the Technical University of Vienna, Gengiz Bektas of Turkey, Prof. Vojteh Ravnikar from the University of Ljubljana, Dimon Lin from Columbia University in New York, Prof. Mirjana Lazarevska from the American University in Beirut and professors from the Faculty of Architecture and other faculties of the University "SS. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje.
