Through the three vices of the protagonist: prodigality, vanity and greed, the director’s staging offers in its contemporary shape the fundamental theme of the work. Can we make something opposite this trinity of vices? Is it about human vices or are these vices part of the contemporary society (and were sowed in the depth of our entire existence) trans-forming these psychological categories into political reality? For example, Turkey and Macedonia, countries on the periphery of Europe and their wish to enter the European structures of power: is it about greed or vanity or vice versa? “Timon of Athens” should present the collaboration between “the outer” and “the inner” in the future turnabout situations in relation to their vanity and prodigality. |
