During the 6th semester, the curriculum of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts focuses on the actor in modern theatre. It’s perfect timing for the students to be shown a completely different approach in building characters, opposite to the system of Stanislavsky, approach that goes from the outside to the inside. So, the starting point is a precise physical action, mise-en-scene, body language, a form of spoken action and all that is exercised till it becomes mechanics, which in time becomes organic part and wakes the inner action of the actor, of course in a controlled way. For that purpose we’ve presented Meyerholds biomechanics to the students, exercising them everyday, and the result was implemented directly to the product. An actor faced with a challenge of modern theatre means risk, a kind of experiment, walking on a tight rope. That is our “Oresteia”.
