Maurice Maeterlinck was born in Gent, Belgium in 1862. This well-known Belgian writer received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1911. In 1890 he wrote the play “Blind persons” which was performed at the Art Theatre in Paris the next year.

The play symbolically portrays the human life and the incurable loneliness of those who are deserted and broken hearted. “Blind persons” is one act stage performance of 12 blind persons sitting in a place unknown to them. The same question is asked repeatedly: “Does anyone know where we are?
