Original music:
Nicolas Roseeuw
Recorded music: Giacianto Scelsi; Maknongan Dancers: Laurence Langlois, Anne Le Batard, Nicolas Rietz, Laurent Valter, Karin Vyncke Lights by: Christina Wolf TAR is not in the traditional sense a biography of the painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. TAR is a personal reply to the works of this artist who died at the young age of 28. The aim of TAR is not to depict the life of this artist but to draw from his works an artistic exploration which is transposed into dance. |
| The stage is covered with drab pieces of cardboard.
Each dance step causes shuffling, a mute rustling that reminds one of the
sounds made by a paintbrush on the canvas, as if the dancers are painting
on the stage. The pirouettes, the twisting movements they make with their
arms, the leaps and contractions are like hasty brush strokes, like dotted
lines. This is what one calls a faithfull translation.
