About "Maklabas"

Aco Stankovski, Director: This film has been made by the members of the underground culture in Skopje, made according to the principles of Worhol's films, and other types of unconventional and enthusiastic production. The film itself has a few levels, because it is a product of multimedia interes. First of all as a conceptualization of some personal interactions, and as a broader artistic activity – from the fine art and music scene of the underground of Skopje. Ninety percent of the people involved are not professional actors and they, more or less, are playing themselves.

 

Vlatko Galveski, DOP and producer: It was much more difficult for me to accept the role of DOP of a feature film, than to produce it. It is because of the responsibility of the cinematographer's work. However, I took that task thinking of the opportunities it gives for broader creative approach and freedom in the filmmaking. Stankovski's ideas and concepts are very familiar to me, so that helped me to understand the role of the DOP as a creative act with specific aesthetics and participation in the whole process of the filmmaking.
